The State Government has offered Leichhardt Council a 99 year lease for Callan Park. Before taking on this responsibility, Leichhardt Council is preparing a Master Plan to guide Callan Park's future.

The Master Plan will investigate everything from recreation to heritage to infrastructure to mental health to funding and the best possible public management structure for Callan Park.

The Friends of Callan Park meet on the first Monday of every month at the NSW Writers’ Centre in Callan Park.

The next meeting will be on Monday, September 6, 2010 at 7pm.
