Callan Park needs your help – write to a politician today

It appears that the NSW government will soon make final decisions on the establishment of a Trust to take over care, control and management of Callan Park.

As you know this is an action Friends of Callan Park (FOCP) have advocated for and supported since founded in 1998.

FOCP needs your help to get this decision ‘over the line’ to ensure proper governance, management and sustainability for Callan Park now and into the future and protect it from sell-offs and development.

Please help Callan Park bring this important issue to the attention of the Premier, Mike Baird, by inserting the letter below (or your own version of it) in the online form:

Please send a copy to:

The Hon. Mark Speakman, Minister for Environment and Heritage

The Hon. Gladys Berejiklian, Treasurer

The Hon. Rob Stokes, Minister for Planning

Please copy us on anything you send – your letter can make a difference.

Thanks for your interest in preserving Callan Park – the jewel in the crown of the inner West.

Dear Premier Baird

RE: Creating the Callan Park and Broughton Hall Trust

I am writing to you because I am aware that the NSW government has made a commitment to setting up a Trust and saving Callan Park and Broughton Hall.  This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to secure the future for this iconic parkland.

The Liberal party has a praiseworthy track record on this issue. Barry O’Farrell made a commitment to save the site and Environment Minister Mark Speakman has as well. We know Planning Minister Rob Stokes is also well aware of the irreplaceable value of Callan Park with its green open spaces, harbour frontage, heritage buildings and landscape and many other cultural and social values.

I call on you now to establish a stand-alone Trust for Callan Park and Broughton Hall which is adequately funded and resourced and has local representation. This will help ensure that generations to come will have the pleasure and privilege of visiting, using and enjoying Callan Park – the jewel in the crown of the inner West.
