The Friends of Callan Park have received the letter reproduced below from Jamie Parker, the Member for Balmain, a long-term supporter of Callan Park. As you will see he intends to put a Motion to Parliament NEXT THURSDAY MAY 28th to encourage the NSW Government to finally take some decisive action to ensure a sustainable future for Callan Park.
Dear Friends of Callan Park,
As you know we have been collectively working to finally secure the future of Callan Park by implementing the Callan Park and Broughton Hall Trust, and the Callan Park Master Plan. The site needs to be protected from development and adequately funded. To further this objective and ensure the government is forced to progress the issue, I have placed a Motion on Notice that will be debated in the Legislative Assembly of the NSW Parliament next Thursday May 28th.
We need the government to support this motion or explain their alternative plans for the site. Please see the motion below. I encourage you and your members to support the motion and encourage the government to do the same.
That this House call on the government to finally secure the future of Callan Park by:
1. Implementing a Callan Park and Broughton Hall Trust
2. Implementing the principles of the Callan Park Master Plan and
3. Ensuring the adequate funding of the Trust.
Moved: Jamie Parker, MP Member for Balmain
People can email Premier Baird or me Jamie.Parker@parliament.nsw.gov.au and I will pass along your comments directly.
