Our December meeting and Annual General Meeting will be held on Monday, December 1 at 6.30pm at the Writers Centre in Callan Park.

At the end of the meeting there will be some Christmas drinks and a celebration of our 10th birthday - we were formed on December 11, 1998 at a meeting in the same Writers Centre.

The AGM will elect office-bearers and members of the executive. If you would like to be an office bearer (President, Vice-president, Secretary and Treasurer) or be part of the executive, you can nominate by return email or on the night itself.

PS. Can I also give advance notice of the Callan Park Taskforce on Wednesday December 10 at 7pm at Leichhardt Town Hall? Leichhardt Council is inviting all those interested in the future of this site to attend.

The Greens’ Sylvia Hale MLC last week placed on notice a number of questions regarding Callan Park.

Amongst these questions are when will the promised Master Plan commence and what money has the State Government put aside to fund this?

The questions also ask why and what work is currently being undertaken on the buildings in the Broughton Hall area given that the Land Use Plan was never finalised? Who is the Government intending to move into these buildings?  None on this work was meant to happen prior to the completion of the Land Use Plan and should not happen without a full and proper Master Plan for the entire site.

The questions also call for the release of the report and recommendations of the abandoned Land Use Plan. Over 2000 people made submissions to this plan and Local Member and Minister Verity Firth was advised in May that that “this report will be publicly available when completed, which is expected soon”.  That was over 5 months ago.
