In preparation for responding to the Department of Planning, by February 22, Leichhardt Council has prepared this report which will be discussed at Council’s Extraordinary meeting on Tuesday, 19 February at 7:00 pm. The public is welcome to attend.
According to Leichhardt Council, a telephone survey commissioned by Leichhardt Council to 400 residents determined the following:
Dear Friends,
Can I draw your attention to three important dates for your diary …
1. Leichhardt Council’s Special Meeting on Callan Park Land Use Plan on Tuesday, 19 February, 7pm at Leichhardt Town Hall
The council is under pressure from the local MP Verity Firth, SHFA and its staff to back down and water down its opposition to the Land Use Plan. The councillors need resident support and encouragement to continue their opposition to Frank Sartor’s disastrous plan.
2. Friday Feb 22 - submissions close to the Land Use Plan - online at plan_comment@planning.nsw.gov.au or by post to Director, Urban Assessments, Dept of Planning, GPO Box 39, Sydney 2001. Read our guide to making a submission on the Land Use Plan.
3. Lobby of Parliament, Tuesday 26 February, 10.30am
We will be seeing MPs to gather support for the the hospital and major mental health facilities at Callan Park and to protect the Callan Park Act (you recall that the government does not have a majority in its own right in the Upper House).
Hope you can come to the party on one of these occasions.
Yours faithfully
Hall Greenland

I had asked for a meeting on Feb 26 in my last email but he declined saying ‘you’ll have enough fun on that day without seeing me’ but he was keen to fit us in beforehand. The points I recall him saying…
